Microorganisms are everywhere, even present in babies. Interestingly, these microorganisms can act as switches for their immune system. During infancy, the immune system is continuously interacting with these microorganisms. Later in life, when the body encounters them again, it may not overreact because it has already "met" them. Removing exposure to these microorganisms during early years could lead to autoimmune diseases due to an overreactive immune response. Switch on!
